Mr. Paris wanted to upgrade the pergola his landscaping company was building. His client was interested in the prospect of a motorized canopy overhead, so Mr. Paris subcontracted the canopy roof to us.
The biggest issue, in this case, was the power supply. The customer’s client wanted his pergola in an isolated part of their outdoor property, and connecting it to the house’s electricity would be difficult. After some consulting with Mr. Paris and his own employer, we made do with a battery-powered motor from Lutron. We set the motor up under a sheltered crook of the pergola’s ceiling supports, with some purpose-made Lutron insulation against moisture and temperature changes. The pergola canopy’s shading layer itself is an in-house custom design of our own. We put the system through a few test runs after installing it. With all working well, we then gave Mr. Paris the go-ahead to put the finishing touches on the structure.
